Polyurethane Raw Materials for the Railway Industry

In rail applications, each component has different operating conditions and material performance requirements. Comfort and tactile properties take priority for surfaces that come into contact with passengers, while mechanical strength and long service life become more important for components exposed to intensive use. Material selection for these components is considered alongside design, manufacturing methods, and fire safety requirements.

Polyurethane enables a wide range of rail applications through its ability to be developed in different forms, from flexible foams to durable elastomers. Properties such as hardness, density, and flexibility can be tailored to the application, allowing manufacturers to develop solutions that meet the expected performance of each component.

At Kimpur, we consider both the end product’s operating conditions and the manufacturer’s processing needs when developing our polyurethane systems for rail applications. By aligning material properties with application requirements, we support manufacturers in their product development processes.

HR Polyurethane Foam Systems for Train Seating

Developed for train seat manufacturers, KIMflex® HR Foam Systems are used to produce molded flexible polyurethane foam components. Their high rebound resilience and dimensional stability help maintain seating comfort under intensive use, while their fire performance characteristics under EN 45545-2 address the requirements of rail applications.
