What is Spray Polyurethane Foam? Benefits, Application and More…

Spray polyurethane foams or SPF are Polyurethane based insulation materials that can be sprayed onto surface by spray application method with the support of high-pressure machine equipment. After spraying, within seconds, spray polyurethane can easily take the shape of foam and become effective for insulation.

What are the benefits of Spray Polyurethane Foam?

Spray Polyurethane foam has become one of the fastest developing building insulation materials in the world because it minimizes the environmental impact of buildings by saving energy. While spray polyurethane foams are in every part of buildings, from foundation to roof, it can also be used in insulation process on the examples below.

Spray polyurethane foams are utilized in every part of building from foundation to roofs, as well as for insulation purposes in the following examples.

Usage Areas of Spray Polyurethane Foam

Spray Polyurethane foams are commonly used in the construction industry on widespread areas.

  • Industrial roof insulation
  • Trapeze sheet and reverse ceiling insulation
  • Sea vehicles insulation
  • Animal shelter insulation
  • Cold storage insulation
  • Pipe insulation
  • Tank – silo insulation
  • Roof insulation
  • Terrace insulation
  • Concrete sheet insulation of building foundation
  • Interlayer insulation
  • External facade insulation

How to Implement Spray Polyurethane Foam? Implementation of Spray Polyurethane Foam

Spray Polyurethane foams are produced by Polyol and Isocyanate’s mixture at high pressure, with 1:1 ratio by volume and can be implemented by applying to surface by spraying. During the implementation process in order to ingredient to mix well and be ready to transfer, the hose temperature must increase to 40-50 C when applied to the surface so that the reaction does not flow or drip by accelerating.

In addition, without the support of primer application, spray Polyurethane foams can be conveniently stuck to surfaces like concrete, wood, and metal. Applications are made in thin layers of 2-3cm, and the number of layers can be adjusted according to the desired thickness.

Advantages and Benefits of Spray Polyurethane Foam

One of the main reasons to prefer SPF frequently is that it provides heat insulation to the wide areas in a short time through spray application. Additionally, it enables the intended surfaces to be insulated and eliminates the heat bridges, which is its distinctive characteristics compared to the other insulation materials.

What is Isotube?

Isotube is a ready-to-use spray polyurethane foam material. There is no need for a spray machine for its usage. The required polyol and isocyanate are put into two separate pressure tubes. The spray gun is also ready, and the hoses are connected to the tubes. Without the help of spray machine and by only using isotube it is possible to insulate especially in smaller spaces.

Spray Polyurethane Foam Prices

Spray polyurethane foam prices can alter depending on chemical raw material prices. Depending on the usage area, choosing the most suitable density of spray foam will be suitable for optimum cost. As the density increases, the amount of material applied per square meter will increase and it will cause cost to boost.

How to Make the Fastest Insulation in Buildings?

The quickest insulation is possible with spray polyurethane foam since it can stick to various surfaces and easy to insulate complex geometries.

Is Spray Polyurethane Foam Cost-Effective?

The thermal insulation value of spray polyurethane foam is approximately 1.5 to 2 times better than rock wool and EPS. Even tough spray polyurethane foam applies thinner, it has the same insulation values. Therefore, the material consumption is fewer and labor cost is lower due to the fact of its rapid application.
