Kimpur Obtains ISCC PLUS Certification for Its Gebze and Düzce Facilities

Kimpur, a global player in polyurethane systems, has taken another significant step in line with its sustainable production approach by obtaining ISCC PLUS certification for its Gebze and Düzce production facilities. With this certification, Kimpur will be offer to ISCC PLUS certified polyurethane systems and polyester polyols by utilizing bio-circular and recycled raw materials, in line with customer demands.

ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is an internationally recognized certification system that provides traceability throughout the entire value chain, from the sourcing of sustainable raw materials to the final product. By enabling the verifiable use of bio-circular and circular raw materials, the system also provides a transparent and reliable sustainability management framework. Within this scope, Kimpur has successfully completed a comprehensive audit process conducted by an independent organization recognized by ISCC.

Integration of Sustainability Across the Value Chain

Under this certification, Kimpur will integrate raw materials derived from bio-circular sources or post-consumer and industrial waste into its production processes through a “mass balance” approach. This enables the inclusion of sustainable raw materials into products without altering existing production processes or compromising performance. By incorporating ISCC PLUS certified raw materials into its supply chain, Kimpur will be able to offer ISCC PLUS certified products by allocating certified raw materials via the mass balance approach across various polyurethane applications, including polyester polyols, rigid foam, flexible foam, CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers), and footwear systems.

As part of its ongoing efforts to develop products with recycled content, Kimpur is already producing PET-based polyester polyols derived from post-consumer plastic waste. In this process, post-consumer PET waste is processed into intermediate materials and utilized in polyester polyol production. With the ISCC PLUS certification, these products are now also included within the certification scope, making Kimpur’s existing circular economy solutions aligned with international standards and more easily verifiable.

Tuncay Halat, Deputy General Manager of Sales, Marketing and Sustainability at Kimpur, commented:

“We are pleased to have obtained the ISCC PLUS certification for our Gebze and Düzce facilities. With this certification, we have documented our existing practices within an internationally recognized system, making the solutions we offer to our customers more transparent and verifiable. Through the mass balance approach, we will continue to develop more sustainable products while maintaining our existing production infrastructure. This achievement further strengthens Kimpur’s commitment to developing high-performance polyurethane systems and polyester polyols without compromising on sustainability.”

With this certification, Kimpur aims to expand its sustainable product portfolio, strengthen collaboration with its business partners, and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, supporting its customers in achieving their sustainability goals.
